Mark Ruffalo Takes the Director’s Chair

Actor Mark Ruffalo has been hired to make his directorial debut with the film Sympathy for Delicious.

According to Variety, Mark Ruffalo (Just Like Heaven) will direct the film Sympathy for Delicious, in addition to having a role.  The project will mark Ruffalo’s first experience behind the camera.

The star will play opposite James Franco (Spider-Man) and Chris Thornton.  The film will be entirely financed by the new production company, Corner Store Entertainment.

Thornton, who also wrote the screenplay, will play "Delicious" Dean O’Dwyer, a paralyzed DJ living in Los Angeles.  The DJ soon realises that he has acquired the ability to heal people, although he can’t heal himself.  Ruffalo will play a Jesuit priest who tries to help the DJ, while Franco will play a rock star who exploits the handicapped healer.

Production on Sympathy for Delicious begins this fall in Los Angeles.

Mark Ruffalo will next be seen in the drama Blindness, directed by Fernando Meirelles, opening in theatres on September 26.  On October 26, we can see the star in the comedy The Brothers Bloom.
