During a segment on her talk show Thursday (May 15), Ellen DeGeneres announced that she will marry her partner since 2004, Portia de Rossi.
The announcement was made to a cheering audience. Now that same-sex marriages are legal in the state of California, DeGeneres will make her relationship with the Arrested Development star official.
DeGeneres said, "I’m thrilled that the California Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote."
