At every draft, we’re treated to some great moments in the reactions of the families of drafted prospects.
One such moment at the last draft in 2022 involved Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes.
He took the time to hug and congratulate his son, Jack Hughes, after the latter was drafted 51st overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round.
It was a beautiful moment when time simply stood still for Kent Hughes, who shrugged off all the stress and importance of his first draft as GM in Montreal.
Well, this year could see another such moment involving a member of the CH organization, as head coach Martin St-Louis’ son is expected to be drafted.
However, we’ll have to wait longer than we did for Jack Hughes to see Ryan St-Louis potentially selected and congratulated by Martin St-Louis.
Ryan St-Louis should hear his name called in the sixth or seventh round, according to the Drette Su’l Tape podcast.

Ryan St-Louis, 20, had an excellent season this year in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
He scored 72 points (30 goals, 42 assists) in 58 games, and added four points (one goal, three assists) in five playoff games.
St-Louis finished the season on a high note, even though he was already a leader a few months ago.

It will be interesting to see if he is drafted this year, and by which team.
It would be a great story to see the CH select him, but at the same time, Martin St-Louis may prefer, like Kent Hughes, to see his son blossom and develop elsewhere.
In short, we hope Marty’s son is drafted this year, even if in the end, it doesn’t change much when you look at the incredible career of the never-drafted Martin St-Louis.

What’s hilarious is that literally no one knows what the Canadiens are doing. There have been legitimate media reports of them:

The Montreal Canadiens should consider moving up at the 2023 Draft.
However, given the discrepancy in draft rankings, there’s also an opportunity for the #GoHabsGo to move down and still leave the 2023 Draft with an elite player.
