Mary J Blige Dominates Billboard Awards

Singer Mary J Blige didn’t leave much to her competitors as she took nine trophies at the Billboard Music Awards.

The 35 year-old soul singer earned the title of R&B singer of the year, among other awards, with her most recent release, The Breakthrough. 

Hip-hop star Chris Brown also had a successful evening, earning five trophies, including new artist of the year, artist of the year, and singer of the year.  Rihanna was named female singer of the year. 

The Canadian band Nickelback took the prize for best duo or group of the year, while Nelly Furtado won the song of the year for Promoiscuous.

Tony Bennett was also honoured during the evening for his career in music.  The Billboard Music Awards were hosted by Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
