Mary J. Blige Drops a Lawsuit

R&B singer Mary J. Blige is suing a company for $2 million for song theft.

Mary J. Blige claims in the lawsuit that the company Drama Family Entertainment violated copyright laws when they used her song Work That, from her most recent disc Growing Pains, without her authorisation.

According to the suit, the song was used without consent in an advertisement promoting the Apple iPod. On the contrary, Drama Family Entertainment defends that the song used in the ad was taken from their own song catalogue and that the singer used the music without the company’s permission.

The singer’s attorneys have not made any comments regarding the lawsuit, while the company’s law team asserts that they have the rights to the song. The two parties seem to be a long way from coming to an agreement.
