Mary J. Blige Fires Her Assistant

R&B singer Mary J. Blige fired her assistant for making homophobic comments.

As an active advocate for the rights of homosexuals, Mary J. Blige didn’t hesitate to fire one of her employees after hearing an offensive remark about gays.

"I’ve heard a couple of guys say foul things, and those guys are not around me anymore," said the 36 year-old singer during an interview with The Advocate magazine.

According to Blige, homophobic acts are committed out of fear.  She added, “When they say things like that, I’m looking at them like, ‘What makes you so scared? You don’t know who you are?’"

Blige also added that she does not hate homophobic people, but chooses not to spend time with them.

In other news, the star’s song Just Fine has been nominated in the Best Vocal Performance by a Female R&B Performer for the next Grammy Awards ceremony, which will take place on February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
