Mary J. Blige t-shirt collection

Mary J. Blige launches a t-shirt collection to help women.

Singer Mary J. Blige hooked up with Catherine Malandrino in 2009 to design a watch for Gucci to raise money for UNICEF.

Now, she is putting her celebrity and love of fashion to good use by working with Malandrino again to create a t-shirt collection, reports Coco Perez.

This new collaboration will benefit the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), an organization started by Blige in 2007.

Malandrino says, "As a designer, I feel I have a role to play. What I want is to free women. Femininity is a strength and not a weakness."

The FFAWN + Catherine Malandrino collection offers t-shirts printed with inspiring messages like I’m Power and I’m Free.

For her part, Blige says, "Catherine has been a dear friend of mine for years and, after she learned about FFAWN and our mission, she offered to create a t-shirt collection that would celebrate being women, being strong and being free."

Blige and Malandrino will be at Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan on February 17 to promote the collection.

All proceeds from these t-shirts, on sale at Bloomingdale’s, will be given to FFAWN.
