Matthew Williamson: Spring/Summer 15 a ‘celebration’

Matthew William has said his Spring Summer 15 collection is going back to the brand’s ”DNA” and is a ”celebration” of their strength and passion.

Matthew Williamson says his new collection is a ”celebration” of the brand’s values.

The 42-year-old designer – who unveiled his Spring/Summer 2015 collection at London Fashion Week yesterday (15.09.14) with stars including Olivia Palermo, Poppy Delevingne and Nicole Scherzinger sitting on the front row – has revealed the inspiration behind the garments.

According to the MailOnline, Matthew said: ”I wanted this to be a real, honest collection.

”It goes back to our DNA and is a celebration of what we as a brand do with both strength and passion.”

The collection – which was inspired by photographs of Marie Helvin in photographer David Bailey’s book ‘Chasing Rainbows’ – features exotic summer pieces such as silk maxi dresses with slashed hems, feather embellished totes and halter-neck dresses with floral motifs and sequinned embroidery.

Charlotte Tilbury – who provided the model’s make-up for the show for Benefit Cosmetics’ ‘They’re Real’ – explained how she reflected Matthew’s designs in the models’ looks.

She said: ”Matthew’s collection is a nod to the 70s so I’ve taken that into account with the beauty look. He took the hibiscus flower as a point of reference and I translated that to the make-up with a dewy, wet look.”
