It seems to me that we’ve been talking about Matvei Michkov for a long time.
Don’t worry, I’m here for you.
The 18-year-old prodigy continues to make a splash in the KHL with HC Sochi, after being loaned out by SKA St-Petersburg.
He played just one game with St-Petersburg, where he was blanked, but since arriving in Sochi, the Russian has been producing at a phenomenal rate.
Michkov is known as an elite maverick, even at just 18 years of age.
Let’s just say he wasn’t afraid to demonstrate his main quality today with a perfect shot from the top corner.
But before scoring his goal, he also served up a fine pass to team-mate Artur Tyanulin.
The latter made sure to thank Michkov after his fine pass.

Now for the serious stuff. Here’s the real reason why Michkov is seen as a top-quality prospect.
His devastating shot gives nightmares to almost any goalkeeper he comes up against.
Enjoy this wonderful shot from the opposite side.

If he keeps performing like this and continues to develop well, Michkov will definitely be quite a player.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’s probably the best Russian prospect since Alex Ovechkin, without taking anything away from Nikita Kucherov, Artemi Panarin and company.
After all, in his draft year, he produced at a better rate than Ovechkin.
In addition to his two points in this game, Mishkov also recorded five shots on goal.
He was also used for 15 minutes and 48 seconds of play.
It’s quite rare for a youngster of his age to produce at such a high rate.
It remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to translate his game to the NHL when he joins the Philadelphia Flyers organization after his KHL contract.

– This is what we call dominating the AHL.
Dustin Wolf was the AHL’s MVP last season going 42-10-2 with a .932 SV%. After today’s shutout, he’s 5-0-0 with a .934 SV%.
His career AHL record is 82-20-6. No typo. Let that sink in.
Come on, what are we doing here?
