McLaren Introduces the MP4-12C

Since the disappearance of the McLaren F1, the world has been waiting for the brand’s next supercar. The English company has finally announced the coming of the MP4-12C.

With doors that open like hawk wings, the MP4-12C makes room for only two-passengers.

Those lucky passengers are in for quite a ride. Centralized in the rear, the 3.8-litre V8 is force fed by twin turbos, cranking out power at 600 hp.

The weight of the beast was kept to a minimum, thanks to a unique central tub and the chassis built around one continuous unit of carbon fibre. This all adds to the effect of its passengers feeling the G’s as the car flies from 0 to 100km/h in less than 4 seconds.

The electronics are also something to talk about. The McLaren MP4-12C will be equipped with brakes that are applied separately on the two front wheels to prevent against understeering. The gear box integrates a system that allows the driver to anticipate a gear shift.

The MP4-12C will hit the market at the beginning of 2011 at a price close to that of the Ferrari 458 Italia. The two brands are destined to be rivals on the street, just as they are on the Formula 1 racetracks.
