Meg Ryan to make directing debut

Sleepless in Seattle star directing first feature film Into the Beautiful.

Sleepless in Seattle star Meg Ryan, 49, is headed for the other side of the camera to make her feature film directorial debut with Into the Beautful, reports Variety.

Written by Anne Meredith, the comedy-drama described as a contemporary Big Chill where old friends meet up after many years and reminisce about their younger days.

Producer Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump, P.S. I Love You) said, "I’m often drawn to pictures that make you laugh and cry. I think this is the perfect project for Meg to bring to life. She’s poignant and funny and heartfelt."

With filming set to take place in upstate New York this September, Finerman said casting will begin soon but there are no plans to include Ryan in the cast.

Although Ryan seems to have dropped off the radar since her last film, 2009’s Serious Moonlight with Timothy Hutton and Kirsten Bell, she is set to star alongside Kat Dennings and Kevin Zegers in Lives of the Saints, which is expected to be released later this year.

In 2006, Ryan adopted a 14-month-old baby girl from China, Daisy True, and she is currently romantically linked to American rock singer-songwriter John Mellencamp.
