Robyn Moore, who has been married for almost 30 years to the actor/director/writer/producer Mel Gibson, defends her husband in the wake of allegations made public by his Russian ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, according to People.
Ms. Grigorieva had made public allegations that the actor had struck her while she held their nine-month-old baby daughter Lucia in her arms.
"Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage. Mel was a wonderful and loving father," Ms. Moore said before a Los Angeles judge in a custody hearing involving Gibson, Grigorieva, and little Lucia.
"Robyn felt she needed to speak out to protect her children and family," a source said.
Moore has no fewer than seven children with Gibson. Though the couple separated in April 2009, their divorce is not yet official.
