Melissa Etheridge Plans Next CD Release

If all goes as planned, singer Melissa Etheridge will release a new disc before the end of the year.

The new CD, Etheridge’s first in three years, is nearly completed.  The disc began taking shape around the beginning of the year, when Etheridge won an Oscar for best song in a film.

The I Need To Wake Up singer recorded a song for Al Gore’s evironmental documentary entitled An Inconvenient Truth.  On winning her award, Etheridge told Billboard magazine, "When I won the Oscar, it was a huge honor. It was like a sign saying, ‘You’re doing the right thing.’"

The new disc, which is yet untitled, will be Etheridge’s first release since Lucky in 2004.  Lucky was the singer’s first disc following her battle with breast cancer.
