Australian researchers wanted to know if men are always trying to impress women. The results were surprising. Men are willing to do anything (or almost) to try to impress the fairer sex.
96 men aged 18 to 35 years participated in the study. All were into skateboarding. Researchers found that when women were present in their environment, young men were more likely to take risks and execute more elaborate and dangerous moves. There were, therefore, more accidents.
Furthermore, researchers found a marked increase in testosterone levels which would explain why men do not evaluate as well the risks they take to try to impress and seduce women.
At the same time, it is difficult to know if this sudden risk taking is linked to a reaction in the brain or to education the men received as children.
