Mercedes-Benz launches fragrance for men

No, it’s not ‘new car smell.’

Just like Porsche, Hummer, and others, automaker Daimler is cashing in on name recognition with the launch of a new fragrance for men called Mercedes-Benz.

Unveiled at the annual exhibition of the duty free and travel retail industry organization known as TFWA (Tax Free World Association), in Cannes, France, the debut men’s fragrance from Mercedes-Benz has been composed by renowned perfumer Olivier Cresp of Firmenich.

Ladies, start your engines as the fragrance combines luscious woody notes with floral freshness. The cool opening top note features Calabrian bergamot, lemon essence and Italian mandarin.

The middle heart note is a warm, spicy mix of bourbon pepper, nutmeg, violet and galbanum resin. The base note provides a spicy finish to the perfume and includes American cedar wood, vetyver grass and patchouli.

The simple bottle design is masculine, modern and elegant. The distinctive perfume fits right in with Mercedes-Benz expansion of its range of high-end accessories, which includes watches and eye wear.

Mercedes-Benz perfume will be available from selected retailers in the first quarter of 2012, as an eau de toilette, aftershave, deodorant, and shower and body gel.

The world of fragrance is not new to Mercedes-Benz: the company already offers exclusively-developed perfumes for the atomizers in its Maybach models among others. In the limited edition Maybach Zeppelin, for example, an acrylic ball is used to dispense a custom fragrance throughout the cabin at the push of a button.
