Metallica to Open for the Rolling Stones

The rock group Metallica will be opening for the Rolling Stones in November.

It has been a long time since the band was just an opener, but for them, this time it’s an honour.

"Over the course of our career we’ve been fortunate enough to share the stage with a select few of the bands we grew up on, admired and respected including AC/DC, Deep Purple, Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden," drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement released Tuesday. "The only band that we have never played with but have always wanted to is the Rolling Stones."

The two groups will play at SBC Park in San Francisco on November 13 and 14.

"Having the opportunity to play with them this November in our hometown of San Francisco is both an honor and a privilege."

The Stones tour, entitled A Bigger Bang World Tour, will feature various artists as openers, including Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5, Pearl Jam, John Mayer Trio, Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace, Trey Anastasio, Joss Stone and Beck.
