Metric co-writes the theme for the third Twilight film

The soundtrack for Twilight: Eclipse will be indie-flavoured.

After winning two Juno awards last month, 2010 continues to smile on Toronto band Metric. They were asked to co-write the theme song for the third film in the popular Twilight series.

Singer Emily Haines explains that Howard Shore himself called her up and asked if she would like to write some music with him.

She wrote on the group’s website: "He wanted Jimmy [Shaw, guitarist] & I to write the theme song for the pivotal last scene in the movie, integrating the music from his existing score into a composition that would express the emotional ending of the film."

Other artists on the soundtrack are being announced one by one. The new album is dropping June 8 while the film hits theatres on June 30. Here is a look at the artists confirmed so far:
