Michael Douglas pays tribute to wife at Globes

Michael Douglas paid tribute to his absent wife Catherine Zeta Jones as he picked up his Golden Globe award last night (12.01.14) at the Beverley Hilton.

The actor was handed the gong for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture for his role in ‘Behind the Candelabra’ at the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Michael, 69, and Catherine, 44, split in August but are believed to have recently reconciled and he thanked her and his children, Dylan, 13, Carys, 10, and Cameron, 35, during his acceptance speech at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

He said: ”To Catherine, Carys, Cameron and Dylan – all my love!”

Catherine was not in attendance to see her husband pick up the award for his role of Librace but he previously told E! News she was ”back east with the kids”, adding, ”All is good.”

He also paid tribute to his co-star in the film, Matt Damon, and joked: ”The reason you’re not up here is because I had more sequins.”

Michael called his friend ‘the best actor’ and Matt appeared touched by his comments.

The couple spent the Christmas holidays skiing with their children in Canada and Michael has hinted in recent interviews that the pair’s marriage is back on track.

The ‘Last Vegas’ star also posted a photograph of the family on Facebook wearing their skiing gear, accompanied with the message, ”Happy New Year from Quebec, Canada … where it is minus 10F.”
