Michael Douglas supports his son

Michael Douglas attended a hearing for his son found guilty of drug trafficking.

Starpulse reports that actor Michael Douglas attended a hearing last Friday (January 29) in New York. He was there to support his son, Cameron, who pled guilty to drug trafficking charges earlier in the week.

Cameron Douglas was arrested last August following a police raid on his room at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York. He was jailed on suspicion of possession of illegal substances with intent to sell.

Last Wednesday (January 27), the 31-year-old pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court and had to appear again in a closed courtroom on Friday (January 29).

His father, Michael Douglas, was present at the hearing and even agreed to sign papers so that his son could be freed on bail until he is sentenced. Cameron Douglas faces a ten-year prison sentence.

Michael Douglas recently revealed that he was not the best father to his son. "I’ll assume whatever responsibilities I have to. Would it have been better to have been around more? Absolutely. There were absences, and I was no angel," confided the 65-year old actor.

Now married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, 40, Douglas has two other children, Carys, 6, and Dylan Michael, 9. He admits that his two youngest children are more confident than Cameron because he has been more present in their lives and less concerned about his career.
