Michael Imperioli is Directing

The actor who played Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos is making his directorial debut.

Actor Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) is trying out his talent as a director for the film, The Hungry Ghosts, which will include some of his co-stars from the television series.

With a budget of less than $1 million and a 24-day filming timeframe, The Hungry Ghosts will be starring two ex-Sopranos, Steve Schirripa and Sharon Angela, Nick Sandow (The Lovebirds) and Aunjanue Ellis (Freedomland).

The two former colleagues will be playing a divorced couple who try to spare their son from their problems.

Michael Imperioli co-wrote the screenplay with Spike Lee (25th Hour), with whom he collaborated in the film Summer of Sam.

Filming of The Hungry Ghosts will start on May 19.

Michael Imperioli can be seen opposite Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, and Susan Sarandon in Peter Jackson’s next film, The Lovely Bones, coming to theatres in 2009.
