Michael Jackson and FBI Documents

FBI documents related to a Michael Jackson case have been released to the public.

According to BBC News, the FBI has released 300 pages of once-confidential documentation on music icon Michael Jackson.

The papers reportedly contain information on the King of Pop’s sexual assault charges involving children between 1993 and 2004, as well as details of the extortion case in which he was the victim.

Despite the application of the US Freedom of Information Act, only half the file will remain secret.

While the files do not contain details of Jackson’s sudden death in June of this year, it reveals just how involved the FBI was in assisting local authorities between 1993 and 2005.

One particular document reveals that in 2004, the local police of Santa Maria requested FBI intervention believing the Thriller star was a "terrorist target" given all the global media coverage he was receiving.

In 2005, Jackson was acquitted on all charges against him in a court case that lasted four months.

The documents were made public via the US Freedom of Information Act following a request made by the Associated Press and other media sources.
