Michael Jackson Feature Returns to Disneyland

Disneyland is revamping a Michael Jackson 3D film for the theme park 23 years after it was recorded.

Interest in Michael Jackson doesn’t seem to be fading, so Disney Parks has announced that their 1986 Disneyland attraction, Captain EO, will be coming back.  The late singer starred as the lead character in the 3D science/ficiton film.

Under the direction of Francis Ford Coppola, Jackson played Captain EO, an intergalactic commander who sang and danced with a small army of alien robots.  Together, they battled the wicked queen, played by Angelica Huston.

The 17-minute feature, produced by George Lucas, was originally created for the Tomorrowland section of Disneyland in Anaheim, California.  There, the film played in a park theatre for a decade.

The same attraction was also installed in other Disney parks, but by 1998, all had been removed.

Captain EO will resume in Disneyland beginning in February.
