Michael Jackson’s Glove Grabs Top Price

The sequined glove worn by Michael Jackson was sold over the weekend for more than $350 000.

The accessory that became synonymous with the King of Pop was sold in New York on Saturday (November 21).

Jackson wore the glove on his left hand in several videos, concerts and appearances during the heyday of the 80s.  The sparkly Jackson trademark was among several items that belonged to the King of Pop that were put up for auction.

The late singer first unveiled his glove in 1983 with the debut of another Jackson speciality; the moonwalk.  It was Chinese businessman Hoffman Ma who got to take the historic piece of memorabilia home with him, though Ma made the purchase on behalf of the hotel Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 in Macau.

Organisers of the auction were surprised at the high level of interest in the sale.  In total, 70 objects were on the block, including a jacket worn by Jackson during his Bad tour in 1989.  The auction gavel dropped on that item with a bid of $225 000.
