Michel Bergeron would already give the Calder Trophy to Lane Hutson
When Michel Bergeron thinks something, he doesn’t hide to say it.
And this time, the Tiger went with a prediction about the winner of the Calder Trophy this season. In his mind, it’s Lane Hutson who should win it.
In fact, he explained on TVA Sports, Wednesday evening, that in his mind “it’s already done”.
The Tiger is REALLY convinced.

According to him, it’s official. Lane Hutson is far ahead of Macklin Celebrini and Dustin Wolf.
Bergeron is especially impressed with how Hutson presents himself in every game. He also likes his intelligence with and without the puck.
The Tiger even allowed himself to compare Hutson’s ability to avoid hits to what a certain Wayne Gretzky did while playing in the NHL. Note: Bergeron did not compare the two players, but pointed out a similar skill.
Lane Hutson is alone at the top of the rookies’ scorers in the NHL with a total of 53 points this season. Faced with such a feat, Bergeron can’t help but think about how the other General Managers in the league must be biting their nails for not drafting him in 2022.
Bergeron is not the only one who thinks Hutson will win the Calder. Georges Laraque was not as convinced as him, but he was confident to see the Habs’ defenseman win the rookie of the year title.
It was also the opinion of several experts from NHL.com, who conducted a vote a little over a week ago.
With only three points behind Hutson having played 11 games less, Celebrini is not out of the picture. The advantage seems to be leaning towards Hutson, but saying that everything is over and that the NHL should give him the Calder right away might be a bit too much.
Anyway, the sports betting platforms still believe Celebrini is ahead in this race.
The Tiger may already be convinced, but Hutson must finish the job and convince the rest of the NHL.
