Mickey Rourke to Play a Chauffeur

Mickey Rourke will get to chauffeur a call girl in Mona Lisa.

Variety reports that actor Mickey Rourke has signed on to star in the remake of the film Mona Lisa.

The Wrestler star will play an ex-criminal who lands a job as a chauffeur for a deluxe call girl. The role of the escort might be played by Eva Green (Casino Royale), who is currently in heavy negotiations.

Larry Clark (Kids) rewrote the screenplay, and will act as director. Shooting is set to begin in July in New York.

In the original 1986 film, Bob Hoskins and Cathy Tyson played the main characters under Neil Jordan’s direction.

Rourke is currently filming two movies, The Expendables, opening on April 23, 2010, and Iron Man 2, which hits theatres on May 7, 2010.
