Mike Hoffman off to a disastrous start in San Jose

Right now, there’s one National Hockey League team that’s the talk of the field hockey world, and not for the right reasons.

The San Jose Sharks are the laughingstock of the league right now.

They have a 0-9-1 record and have scored just ten goals in ten games, while allowing 45.

Their last game ended in a 10-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Our thoughts are with this young boy who was attending his first Sharks game ever.

P.S. It was probably his last.

In short, nothing’s going right for the Sharks, and let’s just say that applies to every player on the team.

And if there’s one player who’s doing nothing to help the team get back on track, it’s former Montreal Canadien Mike Hoffman.

He’s off to a disastrous start to the season with the Sharks, with just one assist in nine games.

Those paying close attention will have noticed that something is amiss, given that Hoffman has only played nine games, while the Sharks have played ten.

This is because Hoffman was left out of the team’s last game.

What looked like a punishment for Hoffman turned out to be a reward, as he didn’t have to play a part in his team’s 10-1 defeat.

In short, the bottom line is that right now, Mike Hoffman isn’t even a regular guaranteed to play every game for the worst team (by far) in the entire NHL.

It’s even easier to understand why Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was so keen to get rid of him this summer.

He even went to the trouble of reacquiring Jeff Petry to send Hoffman elsewhere, to give you an idea.

In short, Hoffman, 33, is in the final season of the three-year, $4.5-million contract he signed with the Tricolore in 2021.

Let’s just say that if he continues his current poor form, it’s hard to believe that any team will offer him a contract for next season.

Stay tuned.
