Mike Tindall nods off during Queen’s coronation celebration

Zara Phillips’ husband Mike Tindall appeared to be suffering from jet lag at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation celebration yesterday (04.06.13).

The rugby player was spotted closing his eyes on several occasions during the short service at Westminster Abbey to mark 60 years since the monarch’s coronation, just days after he played for the Barbarians team in Hong Kong.

The tiring trip appeared to have had an effect on the 34-year-old star – who attended the event with Zara – and at one point Prince William seemed to laugh while looking at the former England captain, while Prince Edward pointed to bags under his own eyes.

As well as the near-12 hour flight, Tindall is likely to have been feeling the effects of playing 20 minutes for the Barbarians against the British and Irish Lions side, who feature several of his England colleagues, in a 59-8 defeat on Saturday (01.06.13).

During the coronation celebration, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, described the monarch’s life as one of ”demanding devotion and utter self sacrifice – a path she did not choose but one she was called to”.
