Million Dollar Baby Get the Oscar

The film Million Dollar Baby, directed by Clint Eastwood took the top award Sunday night at the Oscars.

The film took home the statue for best film, beating its close rival, The Aviator, directed by Martin Scorcese.

Clint Eastwood also took an Oscar for best director.  It was the second time the star earned an Oscar in this category.  Previously he was awarded an Oscar for his work in the 1992 film Unforgiven.

The prize for best actor was given to Jamie Foxx for his role as legendary R&B singer Ray Charles in the film Ray.  Hilary Swank won best actress for the ladies for her role as a young boxer in Million Dollar Baby.

The awards for best supporting actor and actress were given to Morgan Freeman for Million Dollar Baby and Cate Blanchett for her role as Katharine Hepburn in the Martin Scorsese film The Aviator.

In a suprise to all, Born Into Brothels won the Oscar for best documentary, beating out favorite Super Size Me, by Morgan Spurlock.

In the animated film category, Brad Bird’s The Incredibles, won against Shrek 2 and Shark Tale.

El Mar Adentro, written by Alejandro Amenabar won the award for best foreign language film.

The evening was lively with host Chris Rock offering an edgy opening sketch without bringing controversy.  Singer Beyonce Knowles performed a few times, singing the title song from the film Les Choristes, Vois sur ton chemin, in French.
