Miracle on the Hudson plane in U.S. aviation museum

Airbus that landed on Hudson River is headed for Carolinas Aviation Museum.

A few days ago, an Airbus A320 renamed ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ after a successful emergency landing on the Hudson River, was loaded onto a trailer for transport to its original destination, Charlotte, North Carolina.

That’s where the plane was headed that chilly day in January 2009 when pilot Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger became an instant hero for safely landing on the river after the aircraft ran into a flock of birds shortly after take-off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

All 155 passengers survived – giving the plane its new name ‘Miracle on the Hudson.’

The plane will journey to its new permanent home as an exhibit at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Heroic pilot, Sullenberger will be on hand for a special sold-out on June 11 at the museum.

The plane will be reassembled over the following year, and will then be open to museum visitors.
