Mirren Starring Again as Queen Elizabeth II

Helen Mirren could be playing the same role that earned her an Oscar.

The Website Cinemablend reported that Helen Mirren will likely be starring in the role of Queen Elizabeth in Mother: the Indira Gandhi Story.

Mirren won an Oscar for best actress in 2007 for her performance in The Queen. This time around however, the role will be minor as the movie tells the story of the Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, assasinated in 1984.

The film will be written and directed by Indian producer Krishna Shah, whose last movie, Hard Rock Zombies, dates back to 1985.

Indira Gandhi, the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, was Prime Minister from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 to 1984 before the political tensions that led to her death. She was the second woman in the world to have ever been elected in a democratic system.

Helen Mirren will soon be starring alongside Bruce Willis in the film Red, which hits theatres November 19, 2010.  She will also star in the The Last Station, with James McAvoy, set for release on January 15, 2010.
