People reported that Barton’s self-destructive behaviour has cost the actress the loss of several friends.
Her friends want no part in her downward spiral of partying and continuous drug and alcohol use over the past two years.
"In the last few years, her dark side has really come out. Her friends, like Nicole, want to be supportive but they really can’t be around her too much. She’s too volatile," said a close source to Barton and Nicole Richie.
Richie has settled down into mommy mode ever since she started her family with Joel Madden. Therefore, steering clear of Barton, who continues to self-destruct despite the warnings, has become the wiser option.
Barton was placed in psychiatric care after a call was made to the police on July 15 for medical assistance.
