Miu Miu launches new commercials

Upscale Italian fashion house launches series of promotional short films.

Upscale Italian fashion brand,Miu Miu, a branch of the Prada family, blurs the line between art an advertising with a new series of promotional short films called Miu Miu Women’s Tales, reports Vogue.

The series, which features short films exclusively from women directors, opens with The Powder Room by Zoe Cassavetes. The short, filmed in the women’s restroom at Claridges hotel in London, focuses upon the rites and rituals that take place within the private confines of the women’s powder room.

"I love the idea of a powder room, the ritual which takes place within them is very important for women. There’s something special about preparing yourself, a moment before the action takes place. I love the sense of intimacy. It’s a place away from men, where you can check out other women, and reglamourize yourself ready to face the world again," explains Cassavetes.

French actress Audrey Marnay stars in the silent short, looking like a femme fatale of yesteryear. When she is joined in the lavish restroom by other girls (played by models Caroline de Maigret, Line Gost and Sophie Vlaming), the ritual of the powder room plays out dream-like before her.

"The story is about women and their private moments, so it’s allowed to be free and dreamy… the dreamy part was the most fun. And the glamour," noted Cassavetes.

The Powder Room is currently playing on Miu Miu’s website, and will soon be joined by additional short films in the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series.
