Miu Miu mini bags

Barbie wears Prada?

Miu Miu, the high fashion brand from the Prada fashion house has unveiled its new collection mini handbags from the 2011 spring-summer collection, reports Vogue.

Fitting for Barbie, these charm-sized bags are inspired by popular models from the famous designer brand. Fashionistas can adorn their maxi version of the handbag, or add it to their key ring.

The collection contains three leather styles with buckles or pockets, in a variety of solid colors including pink, green, blue, purple, beige, and grey. The Miu Miu mini bags are currently available in stores for $380 US.

In February, with the launch of The Powder Room by Zoe Cassavetes, Miu Miu announced it was embarking on the production of a series of short films created exclusively by women.

The Women’s Tales series of short films explore the feminine love affair with Miu Miu, and are directed by distinctive female filmmakers with different intellectual backgrounds. Zoe Cassevetes is the first filmmaker announced with debut of The Powder Room, a dramatic short film set in London’s Claridges hotel.

“I love the idea of a powder room, the ritual which takes place within them is very important for women,” explains Cassavetes. “There’s something special about preparing yourself, a moment before the action takes place. I love the sense of intimacy.”

The brand features models Caroline de Maigret, Line Gost, Sophie Vlaming and Audrey Marnay in the film, shot in the feminine and sensual environment of the hotel Claridge’s in London. Miu Miu displays the short film on its website and will also broadcast the other films in the series.
