Moneyball Gets the Green Light

Brad Pitt will not end up scrapping the film Moneyball.

People reports that after Moneyball was cancelled in the early days of production last month, Sony Pictures is now trying to save the project that stars Brad Pitt.

The film was to be directed by Steven Soderbergh, who co-wrote the script with Steven Zaillian, however the studio was not pleased with their version.

Instead, screenwriter and creator of The West Wing, Aaron Sorkin, is rewriting the screenplay. He is set to finish in time to film this fall. A new director has also been hired, while Pitt remains attached to the project.

Moneyball is based on the Michael Lewis book, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, recounting how Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics, used sophisticated software to assemble a good baseball team despite financial problems.

Brad Pitt will also be seen in Inglorious Basterds, which hits theatres on August 21.
