March 2 marked the beginning of Montreal’s Fashion Week for the 16th year. The event is presented in collaboration with P&G Beauté, and is currently featuring fall/winter 2009-10 collections from 25 emerging designers.
Dubuc lead the opening parade, which was sponsored by Gilette. Some of the better-known names attending the festivities this year include Marie Saint Pierre, MUSE by Christian Chenail, Envers by Yves Jean Lacasse, Rudsak, Harricana by Mariouche and MO851. Designer Denis Gagnon will lead the closing activities.
Among this year’s newcomers are Bourgeoisie, Ralph Leroy and Ur Imij, Myco Anna, HELMER, Soia & Kyo, Dinh Ba Design, Bodybag by Jude & J.U.D.E. and De Shalla.
This year also features the Telio competition, which provides five young designers the opportunity to win a scholarship.
