More Sex and the City for Carrie?

Will the famous four girlfriends reunite for a third film?

After six television seasons and two movies, could there be a third Sex and the City movie on the horizon? Actress Sarah Jessica Parker spoke to the L.A. Times from the set of her new movie, I Don’t Know How She Does It.

"I would go back," the 45-year-old actress said. "I think there’s one more story to tell. I know there is." It might not be right away, but Parker would be keen to work again with producer Michael Patrick King .

"I’d definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael would do it right," she says. "But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?"

Parker mentioned her need to feel challenged by her work, and explained that "if I’m not scared again that’s not good for me. If I’m not terrified and nauseous and worried the first two weeks of production, then what’s going to happen?"

The actress expressed her surprise about reports claiming the next Sex and the City installment would be a prequel featuring Carrie as a teenager.

“I was like, ‘Wha-a-a-a-t?’" Parker said. "There are a lot of important and interesting stories that 21-year-olds can tell. I don’t begrudge any 21-year-old the opportunity to tell their stories…But I don’t think we can pretend to go back," she added. "It’s creating two histories. It’s like, ‘Oh I didn’t know that about Carrie Bradshaw.’"

Last April, the rumor has taken shape since author, Candace Bushnell, released The Carrie Diaries set during the character’s last year of high school, which the L.A. Times described as “an addictive, ingenious origin story.”

Fans are hopeful they’ll meet up with the four New York professionals Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) who burst on the scene in 1998 tackling socially relevant issues and women’s changing roles.
