M&S hire Victoria’s Secret creative officer

Marks & Spencer are shaking up their womenswear team with the appointment of Janie Schaffer, who will be the new director of lingerie and beauty.

Marks & Spencer has hired former Victoria’s Secret chief creative officer.

The British high street store is teaming up with Janie Schaffer to be their new director of lingerie and beauty after she previously worked as a buyer for the brand from 1984 to 1986.

Marc Bolland, chief executive of Marks & Spencer, said: "We have been able to establish a team that combines the best of M&S experience with exciting, new external talent. Their impact will start to come through when we launch our fall/winter 2013-14 collections in July next year."

Janie’s retail experience also includes the launch and ownership of the Knickerbox brand and she has earned the nickname the ‘Knicker Queen’.

The news comes after the smash success of Victoria’s Secret Angel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s new lingerie line for M&S, called Rosie for Autograph.

The store is having a shake-up of their womanswear team after they saw profits fall this year.

John Dixon, executive director at M&S, added: "Since joining the GM Team in October, one of my priorities has been ensuring that we have the right leadership team and right structure to take us forward.

"We are now all absolutely focused on delivering the right product for our customers."

Janie will replace Frances Russell and come into her new role in early 2013.
