Muse to perform in outer space?

The British band wants to perform the first interstellar rock show.

Members of rock band Muse have their sights set on being the first band to play in outer space, reports Spinner.

The trio of British musicians has been discussing the idea among themselves, and now hope to talk to Richard Branson about a deal to play on Virgin Galactic, a subsidiary of Branson’s Virgin Group, which plans to offer commercial space flights to the paying public.

"We’ve had some discussions about playing in space. Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it’s for real," Muse frontman Matt Bellamy told The Sun.

He did admit to a few obstacles that they would need to overcome: "Although we do have a lot of equipment, so I guess we’d have to use pods to carry our stuff and we’d scale back the shows a lot."

Muse already has a reputation for over-the-top performances, and some have named them the best live act in Britain. Now, perhaps some day soon, they will be able to call themselves the best live band in the universe.
