Muse to start work on new album this fall

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme says writing and recording will begin in September.

English alt rock trio Muse will be heading into the studio to record their sixth album this September, bassist Chris Wolstenholme told BBC Radio 1.

A follow-up to 2009’s The Resistance, the new album will get underway once the band finishes headlining at the Reading and Leeds Festival at the end of August.

"September and October, that’s when we’re going to get into the studio to start writing the new album," Wolstenholme said in the interview.

Although some of the tracks will be written before the festival, the bassist says the band will not likely debut any new material in concert before the album is completed.

"It’s difficult to bring new songs into the live set before you record them, with the Internet and dodgy recordings of live songs getting out there before they’ve been released on an album," he explained.

"People tend not to play new songs live any more. That’s why we want to get into the studio, make another album and then tour it."
