A museum of erotica, the first in Poland, has just opened its doors in Warsaw on Grzybowska Street in the old city. The Erotic Museum is one of a few in Europe where you can see artwork that is typically hidden away from visitors in other museums.
Erotic motives have always been important in the art and culture of many civilizations, however, depending on the historical period, erotic art was either freely displayed or hidden away.
The museum is devoted to erotic art from all eras, with a permanent collection of over 2,000 objects from around the world, including Peruvian pottery, Persian miniatures, Chinese porcelain, Indian reliefs to African folk art, Japanese paintings, Thai phallic symbols and many other fascinating pieces.
Open daily from 11 am to 10:00 pm, The Erotic Museum in Warsaw only allows visitors who are over 18 years of age.
