My Bloody Valentine Inspired by Radiohead

After 16 years of waiting, the band My Bloody Valentine will be releasing their fifth album on the Internet.

The band’s members will follow in the footsteps of Radiohead and release their own disc, according to Billboard.  Vinita Joshi, a representative for the band, reported, "The plan is that they will release the album themselves via the Internet, but there will also probably be a vinyl release."

The Irish group’s lead singer, Kevin Shields has been gathering his band mates for practice sessions.  They plan to return to the studio next month to record their new album, their first since 1991’s Loveless.

The alternative band also plans a tour of the United Kingdom for 2008.  Fans have not had the opportunity to see My Bloody Valentine perform live since 1992.  Tickets for the first three shows sold out in six minutes when placed on sale last November 16.

Rumours that the band will take part in the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in California in April have been denied by the band’s representative.  "If the band had been booked to play any summer festivals, I’d know about it," Joshi says. "We’ll see how the summer shows go first."
