Naomi Campbell Auctions Off Alligator Bag

Naomi Campbell agreed to sell her handbag for a good cause.

On Tuesday, November 10, the former supermodel from Britain auctioned off her Hermès bag for 21 000 euros in Paris and donated the money to charity.

The handbag for sale was the Birkin model, made of pale green alligator skin, which had an estimated value of between 12 000 and 15 000 euros.

The money earned was given to the White Ribbon Alliance, an organization set up in 142 countries that fights against maternal and infant mortality affecting 500 000 pregnant women worldwide each year.

The Artcurial auction house has been holding this annual auction for the past three years, and sells a celebrity belonging to collect funds for a good cause.

This year, Campbell agreed to donate her Birkin handbag. In 2007, singer and actress Jane Birkin, whom the bag was named after, sold hers for 74 000 euros, which was given to the International Federation of Human Rights.
