Naomi Campbell gives back

Fundraising fashion show in Cannes is a big hit.

Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief charity catwalk event stole the show at the Cannes International Film Festival on Monday (May 16), reports FemaleFirst.

Campbell recruited several industry friends to strut their stuff on the catwalk, including supermodel Karolina Kurkova, actress Rosario Dawson and even the legendary Jane Fonda.

British TV personality Bruce Forsyth walked the runway with his wife Wilnelia Merced, the former Miss World. The couple even enjoyed a dance before the show was over.

Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana pitched in as well, designing limited edition T-shirts for the occasion, with all sale proceeds going towards the relief efforts.

"The destruction caused by the earthquake is completely heartbreaking, it’s so hard to even begin to comprehend the tragic loss the people of Japan are coping with," Campbell told The Telegraph.

"I felt very passionate to try and help in whatever way possible, to do our part and to support Japan at this time. I hope that the money raised from Fashion For Relief in Cannes will support those who need it most."

Proceeds from the event went to the Japanese Red Cross to help with the ongoing disaster relief after a deadly earthquake and tsunami struck the country in March.

Campbell founded the Fashion for Relief charity in 2005. The first benefit event took place during New York Fashion Week, raising over $1 million for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
