Naomi Campbell to dress men

Supermodel will debut denim collection at Men’s Fashion Week in Milan.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell, 41, has created a denim collection for Italian brand Fiorucci, reports Fashionista.

As a longtime member of the fashion industry, it comes as no surprise that Campbell has design aspirations. However, since the model rarely wears jeans, her association with Fiorucci comes as a bit of surprise, and may explain why the collection is specifically for men.

The Fiorucci brand has had a low profile since the early 1980s, due to management problems, legal battles, and several failed attempts to get back in the design game.

Recently purchased by Italian company Ittierre, it may breathe some new life into the brand. Ittierre also holds licenses for Balmain’s second line, CNC Costume National, and Galliano, among others – although these brands aren’t exactly high profile either.

Campbell’s last design collaboration occurred in 2008 for a Brazilian-based retailer and it wasn’t very successful. If the partnership with Fiorucci flops , the model has plenty to keep her busy like music video roles, charity fashion shows, and an occasional strut down the catwalk.

In 2005, Campbell founded the charity Fashion for Relief, which has organized fund-raising fashion shows to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the India terrorist attacks in 2009, the Haiti earthquake in 2010, and the Japan earthquake in 2011.
