The two announced the separation today (January 4) after four years of marriage. A statement released said, "While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends."
The 32-year-old Torn singer has been with the 28-year-old singer of Silverchair since 1999. The two were married on January 1, 2003 at the Thala Beach Lodge in Australia. Several celebrities attended the ceremony including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce and millionaire Richard Branson.
It seems that the separation comes from their different career responsibilities. Imbruglia lives in London, while Johns is primarily in Australia and North America.
"Our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary," they said in the statement. "We have simply grown apart."
