Natural cure for impotence?

Study finds niacin helpful in treating erectile dysfunction.

Vitamin B3 – also known as niacin, a common ingredient in many breakfast cereals – could help men suffering from impotence, according to a new study published in The Journal Of Sexual Medicine.

Researchers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong recruited 161 male volunteers. Over a 12-week period, half of these men took two to three 500 mg niacin supplement pills each day, while the other half were given a placebo.

The men who were on the niacin supplements reported significant improvements in their sex lives when compared with the volunteers taking the placebo.

The researchers believe this could be due to niacin’s ability to reduce cholesterol deposits in arteries. By reducing cholesterol build-up in the pelvic arteries, the vitamin helps encourage blood flow to the area.

Men who are suffering from erectile dysfunction should speak to a health care professional before beginning to take such large amounts of supplements. Impotence can also serve as a warning sign for a more serious health issue like diabetes or heart disease.
