Ne-Yo has big plans for 2013

Ne-Yo has vowed to bring back R&B slow jams in 2013 and hopes to end the year with "a bang".

Ne-Yo wants to go out on a "high note" this year.

The ‘Let Me Love You’ crooner – who took over as legendary record label Motown’s Senior Vice-President in January 2012 – is hoping to bring back old school R&B and has vowed to make 2013 a big year in music.

When asked about his plans for the forthcoming year, he told MTV: "You know what? R&B music. Y’all remember slow jams? I want R&B to make a comeback in 2013, and I’m gonna try and have something to do with that.

"I firmly believe the way that you start the year is the way you end it. If you start the year on a high note, you end the year on a high note."

Ne-Yo, 30, kicked off 2013 by performing alongside the likes of Rita Ora and Ke$ha at MTV’s Club NYE 2013 in New York on Monday evening (31.12.12) and said the electric atmosphere at the event helped him stay true to his motto and end the year with "a bang".

He said: "The energy from the crowd, the energy from the dancers, this is like one of the last shows of the year. We’ve been going hard all year, so that was definitely one of those where I thought, ‘We got to go out with a bang’.

"We got to bring the new year in with a bang, so that’s exactly what happened."
