Ne-Yo has superhero powers

The singer makes a concept album starring himself as a superhero crime fighter.

Ne-Yo wanted to do something different on his next album. He decided to tell a story where each song plays a part and the result is Libra Scale.

He invited Rolling Stone to come listen to his new, about-to-be-released album. The mag visited the offices of his record label, Def Jam, and talked to the pop and R&B singer.

Ne-Yo revealed: "I am a bit of a comic book/Japanimation/sci-fi geek. I’ve been in love with this stuff for years, since before I was double digits."

This fourth studio album introduces fans to a trio of average Joes who become superheroes called The Gentleman. They keep their superhero powers so long as they don’t fall in love.

The singer wanted to make 45-minute movie to go along with the album but time and cost got in the way. So he is settling for some really awesome videos.

Ne-Yo talked about the inspiration to tell a progressive story in his new videos. He explained: "And then, the inspiration was furthered by Michael Jackson’s passing, looking at Thriller, Moonwalker, Bad. Those were more than just videos — those were movies."
