R&B singer-songwriter and producer Ne-Yo, a.k.a. Shaffer Chimere Smith, has some good news to tell. His girlfriend, actress Monyetta Smith, is pregnant with their first child. He revealed the stork will pay a visit in early 2011.
Ne-Yo flew back to Atlanta for his girlfriend’s first ultrasound. The soon-to-be parents were a bit disappointed the baby would not cooperate and reveal its gender.
The singer exclusively shared his joy with Ebony magazine. He said, "I am 30 and I do have my first child on the way, and I’m very, very, very excited about that. It’s a New Year’s baby and I’m just in a really good place right now."
The singer has several hit songs under his belt. He has also earned a reputation as a behind-the-scenes songwriter, having written a number of hit songs for others.
Some successful songs he penned include his number one hit So Sick and also Rihanna’s top 10 hit Unfaithful and her number one song Take a Bow. He also wrote Beyoncé’s chart topper Irreplaceable.
