Neil Patrick Harris has issued a public appeal for ”funny” writers to help him with the Oscars, which he will host in February 2015.

Neil Patrick Harris has issued a public appeal for ”funny” writers to help him with the Oscars.

The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor is to host the 2015 Academy Awards and though he is ”thankful” to have landed the prestigious job, he doesn’t know yet what will happen during the show.

He told ‘Access Hollywood’: ”I legitimately have no idea what the content of the show will be yet.

”I’m just thankful that I get to be a part of it this year.

”We are actively hiring writers so if you know anyone funny, Tweet me.”

The ‘Gone Girl’ star has previously admitted he wants to keep the Oscars – which take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on February 22 – ”classy”.

The 41-year-old actor said: ”I don’t want them to be super derivative of other shows that I’ve done. I don’t want it to seem like I’m doing the same award hosting gig that I did on the Tonys, just now on a different stage …

”I want to also just make sure that it’s a classy event. I’ve always loved the Oscars and have great respect for its history, and the gowns, and the classiness of it.”
